Pine Mountain Race League Wraps Up 3rd Season

IRON MOUNTAIN — Tyler Hill and newcomer Missy Todd raced to overall Pine Mountain Cup honors as the Pine Mountain Adult Race League ended its third season Wednesday.

“This was the biggest season yet,” said Pine Mountain Ski Club President Jim Bittinger, noting over 40 adult racers participated in the 11-week Alpine ski race series.

Final awards in the “friendly competition” were donated by the Pine Mountain Sport Shop which included two Descente winter jackets for the overall winners and coupons for Scott goggles and poles for those that earned Nastar metals on the final evening of competition.

Nastar gold medal winners included Tyler Hill, John Bittinger, Doug Hill, Erik Trepp and Tim Brooks; silver, Steve Scheibe, Micheal Frankini, Lindley Johnson, Bob D’Amour and Mike Feira, and bronze, Zack Todd, Missy Todd, Tanya Edwards, Bryan Laurila and Bob Hendrickson.

“Tyler Hill and Missy Todd earned the overall title and new winter jackets through consistent fast skiing throughout the season in their respective divisions,” Bittinger said.

The race league will continue again in January 2009.

Racers expressed appreciation to major sponsor Pine Mountain Sport Shop for their awards and support; Pine Mountain Resort for opening the Nastar event to anyone that wants to participate free of charge, and to the individuals such as Scott and Linda Chanlynn and others who took the time to make the league a success.
